A review kit for NSFW video files

Use ffprobe to find how much picture arrived, mpv to locate the moment worth keeping, and the take scorecard to record your decision. You can practice with our public boxing sample before opening any private NSFW footage.

1. Count the frames you can put on the timeline

Save the example MP4 as review-take.mp4, or use the name of a clip on your device. In a terminal opened in the file’s folder, run the following command. It uses the first video stream and counts the frames that ffprobe can read. The line continuations work in macOS or Linux shells.

ffprobe -v error -select_streams v:0 -count_frames \
  -show_entries stream=width,height,avg_frame_rate,duration,nb_read_frames \
  -of default=noprint_wrappers=1 review-take.mp4

The public clip produced this output with ffprobe 8.0.

width=1344
height=768
avg_frame_rate=24/1
duration=3.750000
nb_read_frames=90

A four-second slot at 24 frames per second holds 96 frames. This file supplies 90. To keep the cut on a music cue, allow a six-frame bridge or shorten the shot by a quarter of a second. For a variable-frame-rate file, use the timestamps when choosing the edit point. The average rate alone cannot tell you when a specific gesture occurred. ffprobe command reference.

2. See which frame you would actually cut on

Open the same local file in mpv. With the default controls, press the space bar to pause near the hit, the period key to move forward one frame, and the comma key to move back. Resume with the space bar to check how the cut feels at playback speed. mpv keyboard controls.

To share one frame from this public exercise with another editor, FFmpeg can also extract the contact frame. Its frame counter starts at zero. In this file, frame 80 starts at 80 ÷ 24 seconds.

ffmpeg -v error -i review-take.mp4 -vf "select=eq(n\,80)" -frames:v 1 contact-80.png
Frame 80 of the sample, with the boxer’s wrapped fist touching the bag.
Frame 80, resized for this page. If your capture shows the boxer sitting down, check the file and frame number.

3. Record an outcome you can act on

For a delivered NSFW clip, judge the requested direction separately from duration or motion. On the public boxing exercise, an editor needing a contact shot could enter gym-01 · hit at 3.33 s and choose “Kept the brief” for that narrower goal. Someone reviewing the full sequence of actions should check each action first. For a refusal, use the refusal label and leave frame measurements blank.

Keep private filenames, prompts, people’s names and media links out of the worksheet. The form below accepts text labels and outcomes. It has no clip upload. Its entries are held in the open page and disappear on reload. Download the CSV before closing the tab. For a longer technical record, the blank worksheet has separate columns for the model, frame count and continuity notes.

Take scorecard

Give each take a short label. Entries stay in this tab until you export or reload.

To compare a second model, reuse the same cleared first frame and motion cue, and record the second run on a new row.
